Naked Shine Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Naked is a brand I have only recently been introduced to, and is one I love already. About a month ago I was asked if I would like to try some Naked products (it couldn't have come at a better time!). I was struggling to find a shampoo and conditioner that successfully washed away any product build-up and didn't weigh down my hair.

Naked doesn't use parabens, SLS, petrochemical, or phthalates in their products, not that I have a clue what any of those are! For the inquisitive bunch, I've found out what all these foreign-to-my-dictionary words mean...
  • Parabens are used to destroy bacteria lurking in our toiletries because they are super aggressive, like white blood cells? (Who am I kidding, I don't have a clue). These have been found to cause skin allergies.
  • SLS is the most common surfactant -something that removes dirt from skin- used in toiletries to make them foam and cleanse. It can strip your skin of the natural oils needed to keep it healthy. Naked however use a nifty little foaming agent derived from apples of all things!
  • Petrochemicals are used to give instant smoothing results to your hair after using a conditioner. They can sit heavily on the skin, and can cause a residue build up around the hair follicle.. yuck.
  • Phthalates are used to make the fragrance last longer in your toiletries, but have apparently been linked to disruptions with the reproductive system- which is probably the most scary chemical of the bunch.
The shampoo is a gel consistency that smells quite similar to men's aftershave, however this doesn't linger in my hair after I've dried it (phew!). It doesn't coat my hair and leaves it completely clean, while feeling sleek and shiny. This shampoo is by far the best I've used because it makes my hair feel so weightless and workable, while also leaving it shiny. It's not often you come across a shampoo that has those effects to your hair, as most shampoos use naughty chemicals that dry out your hair rather than make it shiny & healthy. I believe that's one of the things I love about the shampoo- I feel good for using it. I'm not using chemicals on my hair and I know I'm benefiting my hair.

I really like the conditioner as it doesn't weigh my hair down like most conditioners, yet it moisturising enough to leave my hair soft & shiny. This conditioner helps to get rid of tangles and frizzy ends; two things I hate about my hair. I do prefer the Naked Intensive Care Conditioner to this but only because I feel it's even more moisturising.

I will repurchase this shampoo and conditioner, as I have already, for the foreceable future. They are a lot cheaper than your highend alternatives which are full to the brim of chemicals!

These products were provided by PR for consideration. This does not effect my review or opinion.

  2. This is a great review thank you and thank you for looking up what all those chemicals and things do... scary isn't it! I will def give this shampoo and conditioner a try, the amount of products that build up in my hair is shocking and I struggle to find a shampoo that gives me that squeaky clean feeling! Great review, now a follower of your blog xxx
