Bloggers Uncovered: Sinead from 'Dainty Dollymix'

This is the very last of my Bloggers Uncovered series- I've had an amazing experience chatting with all these lovely bloggers! I hope you have enjoyed the series, and you may see it again sometime soon..

Hi Sinead! To start off with, why did you start your blog Dainty Dollymix?
Hi Sophie! I started my blog in the first instance so i could follow and comment on other blogs that i loved, i never started it with the intention of blogging myself! It was around the time when i started getting into high end brands such as MAC and thought why not share my buys with others, as i love reading haul posts! It started from there really! I have loved reading beauty blogs and watching youtube beauty gurus for the longest time!

Do your friends and family know about your blog?
The first person i told was my boyfriend literally as soon as i started my blog, and he has been so supportive! It took me about a year of blogging to finally tell my mum about my blog as I didn't think anyone else would 'get' it, but she thinks its amazing too! None of my friends know about my blog, although i would love to tell them!

Do you think you'll still be blogging in 10 years time?
I'm not sure, who knows whats going to happen next week never mind in 10 years? If the love and passion is still there then im sure I will most definitely be blogging as its such a huge part of my life now! I'm not too sure how I filled my days before blogging! :)

Would you consider yourself good at HTML/CSS?
Absolutely not! ha! I dont even know what CSS is! I am okay at fairly simple HTML such as changing the fonts of titles but I have to follow instructions down to a tee and get it wrong a lot of the time! Its all about trial and error!

Do you like to take part in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter?
I have never really taken part in the #bbloggers chat on twitter, dont get me wrong I really do think its a brilliant idea for beauty bloggers to share their opinions and ideas with others but it's never really been something im interested in, although i do tend to follow the chat and have a read of what others are saying!

Have you ever been to a blogging event?
I have indeed! The events that i have been to are the Aussie events as i have been a Aussie angel for quite some time! Every event has been amazing & getting to put faces to the names of bloggers you talk to all the time & meeting new people is incredible!I have been invited to so so many events that i unfortunately have to miss out on because i live up in Leeds and takes a lot of time & money to get down to London!

Who are your favourite established bloggers?
There are so so many to chose from! I would say my favourite established bloggers are Kelly, Gemma, Carla, Milly, Zoe, Zara and Sarah.

Who are your favourite new bloggers (under 18mnths)?
Again, there are so many to chose from as i have so many favourite blogs! Vivianna, Charlotte and Gem are some of my favourite newer bloggers! I have a page on my blog of all the different blogs i love which can be found here http://www.daintydollymix.com/p/blogs-i-heart_21.html.

What is your favourite post from your blog and why?
My favourite post on my own blog is my original make up vanity and storage collection which can be found here http://www.daintydollymix.com/2010/01/my-make-up-storage.html. It got so many amazing comments, is one of my most popular posts to be read to date and i had lots of fun taking photos and writing it!

Which camera/device do you use to take photos for your blog?
I use a old school fujifilm digital camera that im not even sure if they sell anymore its that old & was so super cheap! Its about 9 megapixels but has an amazing macro setting that is absolutely perfect for my close up pictures! I call it my blogging camera!

Name one thing you like about blogging?
One thing i love about blogging is meeting the most amazing people along the way! I am privileged to have met the people i have and to call them real life friends is incredible!

Name one thing you dislike about blogging?
Peronally blogging wise, there is not one thing i dislike about it! I love every aspect and that is why i keep on doing it! I am so passionate about writing and beauty, there isnt a day that goes by that im not doing something in regards to my blog, i love it that much!

And a weird one, would you rather be a tiny rhino or a giant hamster?
haha! love this question! I think i would actually rather be a tiny rhino! Not sure why, but a small version of such a scary animal like a rhino would be amazing!
Sinead is just such an amazing blogger. I really look up to her and her blog- it's just exactly what I want Beauty Comes From Within to be in the future. We all know she's a massive blogger (popularity not size!) but her feet are firmly on the ground and she's never one to ignore you! She's just a really lovely person. Remember to check her blog out here if you haven't already.

Bloggers Uncovered: Zoe from 'Zoella'

Hi Zoe! To start off with, why did you start your blog Zoella?
Hello Sophie.. Well to begin with, I mostly just watched YouTube Videos on beauty and all things makeup related, then I discovered that a few of the gurus had blogs on the side, which I then went on to read daily. I thought "I reckon I could do that", and on one very boring day, Zoella was born :)

Do your friends and family know about your blog?
Yes they do, and most read it, which I never thought they would. Obviously the men in my family aren't so keen, but that's understandable. ;) I found it a bit odd at first, but if they all enjoy it then I don't mind them reading it once in a while.

Do you think you'll still be blogging in 10 years time?
Who knows! I'd like to think so, how weird would that be, looking back over 10 years of my life all documented on the internet. Everyone will essentially just be watching me age, and acquire wrinkles...scary!

Would you consider yourself good at HTML/CSS?
No way! I'm terrible. Most of the things on my blog (besides the header and the sizing) I've had to ask people to help me. I'm actually currently looking at getting a total makeover on the blog, (there's some exclusive info for you there haha) so hopefully it will all come together nicely and be a bit more pleasing on the eye. I get bored very easily, so change is sometimes needed.

Do you like to take part in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter?
I have done a few times, I think it's a great idea, although because my tweets are protected it's a bit harder to get involved as only a certain number of people can see my tweets.

Have you ever been to a blogging event?
Yes, I've been to plenty. They're a great opportunity to see what goes on in different companies and to get up close and personal to new collections. It's also great for socializing with other bloggers :)

Who are your favourite established bloggers?
I'm not sure what you mean by established, but there are so many blogs that I have followed for years and read on a regular basis. To name a few, LLYMLRS, SprinkleOfGlitter, MARIANNAN, Fade to Black, IHeartVintageX, Sophia's Journal, BUBBLEGARM and many many more. I follow over 600 blogs and love and read them all :)

Who are your favourite new bloggers (under 18mnths)?
I follow way too many blogs to even think about it haha. I don't actually know how old any blogs are that I read, and I don't actually ever check. If I see a blog I like, I generally whack the ol' follow button. :) Maybe I should look more closely at the newbies, but some are so good, it's hard to know who are new in the blogging world and who have been doing it for years.

What is your favourite post from your blog and why?
This is so hard. I think it's got to be my "Why are you so skinny" post. I love to take pretty photos and review beauty items but I think that blog post really helped a lot of people to feel better about the way they looked and how others perceived them, and it's really satisfying to know that I've encouraged many young girls (and older for that matter) to share similar stories and boost their body confidence. It made me feel all happy inside :)

Which camera/device do you use to take photos for your blog?
Recently I was given a Canon EOS 600D for my 21st birthday, so in more recent blog posts that's the camera I've used. I love it, it's my baby.

Name one thing you like about blogging?
The many different opportunities that come from doing something I just love to do aswell as meeting new people and making lifelong friends.

Name one thing you dislike about blogging?
People that judge you on what you provide them. It's very difficult to get across your personality just in words and pictures, and unfortunately some people think they know everything about you by these two simple things, and really they don't at all. I also don't like that people try to add members of my family and my boyfriend on social networking sites. It just makes me question how much of my life I really want to share as clearly these people just need to know EVERYTHING, when actually, I think sometimes they forget I'm just a normal girl.

And a weird one, would you rather be a tiny rhino or a giant hamster?
A tiny rhino! How cool would that be haha.
I think it's easy to say Zoe is one of the most inspiring girls on the blogosphere, and I really look up to her! She's absolutely hilarious (mentioning no monkey suit) and is just stunning. I'm sure you have all seen her blog before, but if you've been missing from the blogosphere in the last few years you can visit her beauty/fashion/lifestyle based blog here! :)

Olympia Beauty Show

How amazing are these.. I didn't get a chance to picture the Essie stand and didn't purchase any nail polishes from them (as I have over 100 already) but wish I had now!

These are too adorable! I ended up picking the Ladybird and the Dragonfly ones. I wish I'd got the Bumblebees too now *obsessed*. I heard they'll be bringing out some of these babies with paw print designs at the start of 2012.. shhh.

Can we all see Richard Ward at the end? (squeals)

Excuse all the photos but with my press badge I thought it was only right to walk around with my Canon 600D looking like the proper 'press'. I even got approached by one guy asking me to take photos of his products for him, in return for 'good business'. Obviously I refused and ran the hell away from the crazy man! I was quite proud of my Press badge so ended up keeping the badge on until I reached Truro station as I couldn't bare to take it off. It's the first real event I've been to so I definitely strutted my stuff.

I was going to post a photo of all the freebies I was given, and all the things I had bought but I think I'll save that for some other time. I did however pick up SO many products which will keep my reviewing 'agenda' busy for a few months/years! As you can see there were so many great companies at the show which I took advantage of, I just couldn't believe the queues at OPI. Who knew OPI were so famous?! ;)

After having a good old look around I headed up to the Beauty Arena for the Best In Beauty seminar hosted by the amazing Helena Biggs. THE Richard Ward was on the panel, which just stunned me. He was absolutely hilarious- who'd have thought he could be so funny? I was sat right on the front row of James Read and after tweeting him he said I should've said hi.. I feel I've missed out on an opportunity there girls! Kidding of course..
I'm so glad I got the chance to go to Olympia Beauty, sometimes it's great when your mum owns a beauty salon as you get to go to the shows! I think I'm permanently scarred by the amount of nail polish I saw and didn't buy though, but I told myself I already have 100+ nail polishes and don't need anymore.

Just a quick shout out, the lovely Louise from Sprinkle Of Glitter gave me a mega amazing shout out in her latest video! Check it out?

Bloggers Uncovered: Louise from 'Sprinkle Of Glitter'

Hi Louise! To start off with, why did you start your blog Sprinkle Of Glitter?
Hi Sophie! Thank you so much for having me on your blog, it's very nice of you and makes me feel all special-haha I need to get a grip! On with the interview!

I started Sprinkle of Glitter almost 2 years ago. I had just bought a house with my fiance and was really into homey/interior type blogs. I was spending a lot of my time making soft furnishings, upcycling furniture and visiting craft fayres so I decided to write about it. Then once my house was a bit more sorted I decided not to leave my blog but to turn it to something I was really in love with (aside from Matt!) and that was and is cosmetics and beauty products. Along the way, I have had my big pink wedding, been pregnant and had a lovely baby girl! Yowzas!

Do your friends and family know about your blog?
Yes they do. I don't think many of them really understand the blogging community or what it means to me, but they know it's there.

Do you think you'll still be blogging in 10 years time?
I'd like to think so, yes. I hope blogging is still going and we haven't all had funny little microchips injected into our brains so our computers are in our eyes and we telepathically type, or something equally crazy!

Would you consider yourself good at HTML/CSS?
I'll level with you, I don't even know was this 'CSS' business you speak of is!! As for HTML, errr no! I had to have my friend Zoe (you might know her as Zoella) teach me a tonne of -to most people- simple stuff like putting links into text and making pictures large, let alone coding. In a nutshell, no, no I would not.

Do you like to take part in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter?
If I'm online I do take part. It's a great tool to learn from and interesting to hear other people's views and opinions.

Have you ever been to a blogging event?
I'm very lucky and I have. I really enjoyed them. It was so much fun to meet the people behind the blogs I read and chat to them. I always go to these things thinking "I'm cool, stay cool" or "I am a sophisticated lady with interesting conversation and a brraaainn", but then I end up making a total fool of myself or saying something utterly ridiculous. Soon I shall give up and accept the inevitable- je suis une baffoon.

Who are your favourite established bloggers?
Well this is easypeasylemonsqueezy- Zoe from Zoella. She is my real life friend (we actually hit it off an a blogger event last year) and she comes to stay and play. She is an absolute hoot and I love her dearly. Zoe is a very on the ball kinda girl and incrediably empathetic to other people, I think these are rare gems to have so I cherish her.

I also like Bubblegarm and am looking forward to seeing her little baby girl, I also read a blog called Saidos Da Concha which is a homey/lifey one and she has just annouced she is pregnant too! Did I start a blogging pregnancy trend?! Haha!

Who are your favourite new bloggers (under 18mnths)?
Hmmm this is a toughie because I read soooo many blogs! If I had to pick one I like I would say Coleyyyful's blog. She makes cute jewellery and seems like a really sweet girl.
There are other blogs I read but it would take an eternity to list them all and you'd all be very bored indeed!

What is your favourite post from your blog and why?
This is a really tricky one, as I don't have a particular favourite. I had a look through and one that stands out to me is my 40 Week Pregnancy Update. I was over my duedate and waiting for Baby Glitter to arrive. I was saying cheerio to my life pre mummyhood and looking forward to having a daughter to care for. Two weeks later my life changed forever. I'm glad I documented the changing of chapters.

Which camera/device do you use to take photos for your blog?
I use a cruddy old Kodak cheapy digital thing which I bought 3 years ago for about £80, before the blog began. I am hoping to nab a snazzy camera off my Dad soon so I can have better photographs, but he is taking me to Miami and Orlando (on business- I'm going to be his assistant!) in September so I don't like to ask for too much! Haha!

Name one thing you like about blogging?
I never feel alone. Even if it's 3am on a cold Wednesday night, I know there will be a Sprinklerino to chat.

Name one thing you dislike about blogging?
I often feel frustrated that I don't know how to do swish techy things that would make my blog look really fancy. If anyone would like to teach me, I'm all ears!!

And a weird one, would you rather be a tiny rhino or a giant hamster?
A tiny rhino. Silly celebs would pay thousands to have a tiny rhino because it'd be uber cute, much better than a huge rodent anyway. Then I would live a life of pampered luxury in the hollywood hills and get carried about in expensive handbags.

I won't lie, Louise is probably my favourite blogger because she's just such an amazing person! If you would like to check out her blog click here- she mostly writes about beauty with a few lifestyle posts thrown in. She's just a fab person and has nicknamed me Silly Billy Sophie, I feel famous! Louise is so down to earth and willing to have a chat.. you won't believe how kind she is.
little note to Louise- thank you so much for your friendliness over the last few months, and thanks for being able to take part in this series for me. you're amazing!

Weekend in London (+ Wizard Of Oz)

I think watermarking ruins photos and I know the disadvantages.. but I didn't want people copying them. This may deter a few people.

I'm going to start of by apologising for not blogging in what feels like months (only a week really), but life's been quite busy lately. I visited London last weekend with 10 other beauty salon peeps which although was amazing, it was also extremely draining. We journeyed from Cornwall to London to visit the Olympia Beauty show and see The Wizard Of Oz at the Palladium (by Andrew Lloyd Webber).

After arriving at Saturday lunchtime we went back to the hotel (London Town Hotel in Earls Court) and got ready to go and see The Wizard Of Oz, but after only taking about an hour to refresh we went to Oxford Circus and had a hectic dinner/lunch at Garfunkel's. I ordered some sort of herb chicken with chips which was beyond lush. By the time we had eaten we rushed over the road to the Palladium- I nearly screamed when I saw Liberty's such a shame I couldn't have a look around..

The Wizard Of Oz was beyond magical, even though we didn't have perfect seats, and I almost cried at one point. The atmosphere when little Toto came onto the stage was absolutely crazy which made me break down a few times. The sheer joy and happiness of everyone just took me by surprise. It was so magical. I couldn't believe I was in the same room as the Michael Crawford from Some Mothers Do Ave Em, the most hilarious comedy of all time. My favourite moment was Toto bowing for an applause at the end, everyone just started crying. The whole thing was perfect, the props, the characters, the stage setup.. I would definitely recommend you all to see it!

I'm going to write a post separately about Olympia Beauty but I'll explain it a little here.. As mum's got a bad back at the moment we had a hire a wheelchair, which although was quite embarrassing we did get to skip the massive queues muahaha. After the first day of Olympia mum, Ruby and me headed to Nando's for dinner. I had Lemon & Herb chicken and bloody hell I'm glad I had unlimited refills on my diet coke as my mouth was on FIRE. I can't stand spicy/hot foods but it was pretty yummy.

The second day of Olympia we had to leave at about 2pm to get the train back to Truro. I was gutted! We had a quick jacket potato in the Gold Lounge (we're special) and dragged ourselves and our heaps of luggage back to Paddington Station. We had quite good seats on the way back too! I love journeys home as by the end, around 8pm, it gets really empty so you can do whatever you like. I ended up running back and forth along the carriage.

I had an amazing time but I wish I'd been able to meet up with Louise (makeuploverr) and Jayne (jaynejread). I can't wait to go back up to London in the October half term to raid Liberty's, John Lewis, Selfridges and Urban Outfitters.

sorry for such a long and talkative post.. I've missed you all mega lots. xo

Bloggers Uncovered: Lucy from 'Miss Lucy Loves'

Hi Lucy! To start off with, why did you start your blog Miss Lucy Loves?
I've had a website or Livejournal since I was about 15 so posting on the internet wasn't new to me. One of my old Livejournal friends Daisy posted a link to her blog and I decided to start one up again. Miss Lucy Loves was born!

Do your friends and family know about your blog?
My family do but friends is a little different! Most friends know I have one but nobody really knows what it is. I should get over it and just share it but it's hard!

Do you think you'll still be blogging in 10 years time?
In ten years time I'll be 33 - scary! I probably won't as I'll have a family by then but you never know, I might be a yummy mummy blogger.

Would you consider yourself good at HTML/CSS?
I don't even really know what CSS is! I used to be alright with HTML when I had my own website with no Blogger mechanics holding it up! Sadly I've forgotten most of it and now just tinker around with my layout with a bit of help from Google and lots of trial and error. Mostly error.

Do you like to take part in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter?
I did take part for the first few weeks (mostly because I can't keep quiet!) when Fee was running it still but since she stopped, I think less people on my feed are taking part so it seems to pass me by.

Have you ever been to a blogging event?
Yes! I've been lucky enough to go to a few. We tend to have fewer events up north but if I do go to one then my favourite part is meeting fellow bloggers/blog readers. It's like a secret little community!

Who are your favourite established bloggers?
Jen who I have the pleasure of knowing 'in real life' through blogging and Laura who counts as established even though this blog is a new one.

Who are your favourite new bloggers (under 18mnths)?
Natalie and Penelope.

What is your favourite post from your blog and why?
My favourite posts have been showing my readers my new apartment as it's a massive project and is taking some serious work but everyone seemed to love having a nose around.

Which camera/device do you use to take photos for your blog?
I use a Canon IXUS 210 IS. It's just a point and shoot but it does the job.

Name one thing you like about blogging?
The lovely bloggers I've met! Honestly I spend so much time chatting to people on Twitter and when you finally get to meet somebody, you already have so much to talk about and often a lot in common. It's really nice to know I've got friends all over the country through blogging.

Name one thing you dislike about blogging?
Finding time to do it! There is a slight expectation from readers to post regularly and I work long hours so it's hard to squeeze it in. Especially in the winter when it's so dark I can't take any photos apart from at the weekend.

And a weird one, would you rather be a tiny rhino or a giant hamster?
Tiny rhino, cute!

I have always been really inspired by Interior Design, and Lucy's blog just channels that. Just add some fashion and beauty, and viola the perfect blog! She's also shows us her hauls and shopping trips- which then leads to me adding it to my wishlist. It's an endless circle!

10 Things I Love Most About Bramble

Bramble- My gorgeous 9yr old Cocker Spaniel

1) He's always up for a cuddle when I'm feeling sad, in fact he loves his cuddles. He's always coming up to my room throughout the day just to say hi!

2) Bramble probably knows more words and phrases than a 2 year old child. He knows: up on the bed-bed, in my room, where's the fly-flies, what's that smell, who want's din-dins, shall we go walkies, who's farted, what've you got?, rub the belly, yummy porridge, aww poor baby, and so many more.

3) He also recognises his many names, even if some are a little mean. He goes by Bramble, Boycey, Fatboy, Bramboozle, and Baby. My dad has a thing for calling our dogs by different nicknames.. he's insane.

4) You can always tell where he is by either his snoring, farting (oh yes, rather attractive I know) or his shuffling. He can't sit still unless he's asleep.

5) Whenever we go on a walk he always has to stand next to you. It's really funny as he will also follow right behind you -almost touching your shoes- when you walk through sand dunes or bushes so he doesn't get nettles or brambles in his way.

6) Bramble is obsessed with food to the point where he will cry and jump when you mention din-dins. He's not the most active of dogs until food is mentioned, where he will leap about and give me his 'puppy eyes'.

7) His favourite time of the day is brushing time as he gets 100% of my attention- he will sit there enjoying his ears being brushes with his head held high. He's then as proud as punch walking around to show off my handy work. He's such a show off!

8) Bramble is lucky enough to sleep in my bedroom most nights, as he's got a very clever skill! When my alarm goes off in the morning he will either tap me with his paw or push me with his nose. I can always hear it but let him wake me, it's just too cute!

9) He's a major trouble maker! If he sees someone coming towards the gate he will quietly bark a few times until the other two come outside to investigate, and then run back inside. We'll tell the other two off for barking while he get's away with it.

10) He is obsessed with any insect that flies: moths, flies, daddy long legs.. he'll run after them all. If he sees a moth in my room I have to kill it, or he will be watching it all night. We always wind him up by saying 'where's the fly-flies?' and then making a buzzing sound. Gets him every time!

I'm sorry if this is a long winded post, but I still hope you've enjoyed!

Review: Denman 'Tutti-Frutti' D3 Brush

As you all know, I am a firm believer in the Tangle Teezer being the best brush in the world for tangled hair that lacks attention. However you can't use Tangle Teezers with heat as it can melt the thin plastic bristles, so I have been without a hair brush for that exact 'job' for quite some time. When I was offered to try the new D3 Strawberry Shortcake Fragranced Hairbrush I jumped at the chance.

I believe there are 6 different scents including Coconut and Lemon Sherbet, both I think would smell gorgeous! I have been using mine for blow drying - and normal brushing - for a good while now and although the smell doesn't transfer to your hair, it's still quite a nifty thing to have. The scent hasn't been weakened or lost in the time I have had it, and using it while blow drying hasn't effected this either.. Win!

I would say these really are novelty hair brushes that would make perfect Christmas or birthday presents, and at £7.31 it's not breaking the bank. These brushes in my opinion are far more attractive than the original D3 and for only 22p more you could get a scented and super cute brush.

And who doesn't want a Denman Hairbrush with strawberries on it?!

You can buy these brushes here.

I was sent this brush to review but as always my review is 100% honest.
