A really old FOTD

I found these photos on my Macbook and decided to let you have a little look. God I look chubby (and a little angry, I apologise for that)!

If I can remember rightly I'm wearing Sable and All That Glitters by MAC, and Revlon Colorstay foundation. Except for that I'm clueless as I think these photos were taken at least 2 months ago when I first got my gorgeous sideways cross necklace from here. I was going for natural hair here, and for some reason it was wavy when my hairs as straight and flat as a pancake. Weird!

I just wanted to give you a pretty hideous excuse as to why I've not been blogging much lately. I've just changed my options at college to Art: Graphics, Art: Photography, Sociology and Business Studies rather than the Art Level 3 Extended Diploma. As I've made this decision, I have been speaking to mum about buying a DSLR camera for the Photography course so I can have it at all times rather than renting from the college. I have set my mind on the Canon 600D with it's humungous £799 price tag. Ouch. I will be paying back my parents about 20% of what I earn each month to pay for the camera myself, and have been waiting until I get my brand spanking new camera to blog. I've stopped blogging as much as I hate the photos my iPhone is taking and have been waiting for better quality.

I'll be back to blogging as usual very soon as I hope to get the camera tomorrow, but until then.. Have a great Sunday!

A Late OOTD..

Dress: Primark
Necklace: Etsy Seller
Shoes (not seen): Newlook
Bag (seen behind): River Island

A handful of weeks ago (yet my brain is converting it to months) I went to the cinema to see The Hangover 2. It was really good, which meant I was giggling and snorting throughout the entire thing. I do feel sorry for the people sitting in front of me, I must have bugged them! I decided to go a little bit 1960's and wear this gorgeous dress that was a complete bargain from Primark. I did however look a smidgen over dressed compared my friends who wore jeans and a t-shirt. Oops. At least I put in the effort right?

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend,

Young Blood Mineral Cosmetics Review

Today I'm going to be reviewing some products I received from Young Blood Mineral Cosmetics, a company that's lately made a big impact throughout Twitter! I was asked as 1 of 10 to review a selection of their products, which is what I'll be doing now. I wanted to give the products a proper review so have reviewed each in great detail, hope I don't bore you too much!

I was so excited to try the Mineral Primer, with Honeysuckle extract and Jojoba Oil. The website explains that it leaves your skin with a silk-to-powder touch, which I totally agree with. It feels similar to the Benefit POREfessional, with a silky and easy to blend texture that turns quickly to a powder finish. It's pretty strange, but reduces the look of pore and allows me to blend my foundation so smoothly. This definitely keeps my foundation in place all day. I tried using it with my MAC Mineralize Satinfinish which slides off the face in seconds, and this kept it firmly in place for much longer than usual. When using with the Young Blood Liquid Foundation it keeps my foundation firmly on my face all day without looking as shiny. I'm definitely savouring my sample for as long as possible.

for pictures of me sporting the foundation, see my previous post.

The Deep Sea Hydrating Complex within this foundation is 'rich in ocean minerals and nutrients for superior hydration'. It contains Willow, Cactus, Magnolia Extract, Grapefruit, Cucumber, and Natural Essential Oils such as Ylang Ylang. The mineral foundation also contains SPF by using Titanium Dioxide which reflects UV rays. I received the shade Sand which was a tiny bit too dark/yellow yet I find it so easy to blend that it doesn't really matter! I love the coverage of this, I'd say it's light/medium depending on how much you apply. It gives your skin the 'naturally perfect' finish, making it seem as though you aren't even wearing foundation. Applying powder to this is definitely optional (depending on how long you want it to last) as it looks just as good with or without. I wouldn't recommend it for dry, flakey skin but think it would be perfect for anyone with Normal/Combination skin like myself. I'm contemplating buying this when the sample runs out as I can't find a single major thing wrong with it. I may have found my Holy Grail foundation!

I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about trying this translucent powder, as I'm more than happy with my MAC MSFN and couldn't think of buying any other powder for the rest of eternity. However when I tried this I did have a little 'ooh', it's very expensive for the amount of product you receive but you don't have to use much at all. I dab my brush lightly into the powder, tap off the excess and then blend lightly across my t-zone. This leaves my skin feeling soft and gets rid of any shine, which is perfect for the summer months! I love wearing this to work as it means I don't have to re-powder throughout the day; a god send when you're out and about. The website says this leaves the skin 'almost looking airbrushed' which I agree with to a certain point. It does hide quite a lot of imperfections, reduce the oil/shine and conceals any redness or flush I may have, but it doesn't make my skin look perfectly airbrushed. It's not a miracle product but is very very good if you don't have the time to powder your face throughout the day.

Welcome, Young Blood's gorgeous tinted moisturiser; a tint recommended for dryer skin types, available in 6 different shades. I received this in the shade Natural which is slightly too dark to wear on a daily basis, but I've been mixing it with my Liz Earle Moisturiser to lighten the colour which has works perfectly. This is really light in texture and feels like you're applying a thin layer of moisturiser on it's own, without a thick liquid tint clogging your pores. It's 'packed with anti-oxidents of Kiwi Extract and Vitamin E' as well as Liquorice Root Extract to calm redness, while Menthol cools the skin. This also contains ingredients that blend to protect skin cells and tissue, especially from environmental damage. It evens my skin tone without creating a cakey effect that some tinted moisturisers leave on the skin, and I've been relying on this for the days that are too hot to wear foundation. I have also been wearing it around the house as it gives the slightest coverage I want without the feeling of covering my skin. I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone, I just wish I'd received a lighter shade so I could truly enjoy it!

I haven't really been using this as a Moisturise Tint (like the one above) as it looks very dark when all over the face on me, so I have been using it as a bronzer. I apply a small amount to my cheek bones and any other places that naturally get the sun. The very slight shimmer gives a glowing, healthy look which is perfect for the summer. I bet this would be absolutely great by the pool side or even just at the beach in sunny old Cornwall! It's so easy to apply and really evens out my skin tone. Great for defining your cheek bones girls!

If you would like to check out Young Blood's products, you can do so here.
If you've survived this entire post, you deserve a medal!

What do you think? Are you thinking about buying one the items I've mentioned?

I received these products to review, but this has not changed my views. All opinions are 100% honest.

Sunday Summary (11)

Here's a few sexy shots of me with a floral garland on, just cos'. Flowers make you cool, it's official. ;)

For those wondering, I'm only wearing my gorgeous Young Blood Mineral Primer and Mineral Liquid Foundation with a hefty sprinkling of MAC MSFN. Pretty nifty foundation; lasts all day, easy to blend, looks natural. It needs HG status fo' sho'.
  • I found these photos on the old Macbook from a few moons ago and thought I'd grace your screens with my pretty face. I've been quite partial to taking snap shots lately as it's nice to see what your makeup looks like in photos. I've been trying some Young Blood products but haven't yet got around to writing a review. The review will just be love, love, love though as their products are bloody fantastic. I'm gonna have to get my hands on their Moisture Tint as it's totally knocked my want for Laura Mercier's out of the water.
  • I'm biscuit mad! I have been chomping on the biscuits more than a fat kid eats cake.. making me soon to be a fat kid. I'm gonna go cold turkey for the next week I think, to try and get me out of the bad habit. Talking of bad habits.. I've started getting into a crap sleep routine.. 2am-10am! I'm constantly shattered. I always have an energy spurt at about 12 at night so if I don't get to sleep before 12 I can't drift off. I have so many bad habits.
  • A few twitter girlies (cough Emma cough) will know my obsessed with Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps. Oh god, I'm so obsessed with Will Mellor. Phwoar! Emma doesn't seem to have a mutual hotness rating for him though. Can't see why.. he's 100% gorge. I'm lucky enough to see him for 30-40 mins every other night (on the TV of course) and see him in the programme In With The Flynns. I have to announce it whenever I'm on Twitter. I'm gonna have to buy the Two Pints box set I think..
  • Due to my extreme boredom I've been carefully constructing buttons for a few lovely bloggers this week. Ever since I had a quite severe obsession with Neopets when I was little, I've had a kick start in HTML and Paint. I seem to be able to help with some HTML problemos, but yet my own layout is lacking on the hotness front right now. I'd promised myself I would buy myself a blog makeover but just haven't had the money to splash out on that. I would rather spend it on the Two Pints box set... phwoar.
  • I have been loving my MAC palette to the moon and back this week. My favourite shades are Phloof!, Naked Lunch, Patina and Satin Taupe. They've been my daily neutrals when ever I'm shovelling on my slap! I need some more eyeshadows similar to either Naked Lunch or Patina though as I'm in love with them, I have 5 spaces to fill in my palette waiting for some. I have been thinking about getting Twinks too, just because it looks peerrddyy. If you have any ideas let me know.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

I was not sponsored by Primark to be wearing their floral head garland.. it's just too damn cute.

Ingrid & Luke's 'Who Says' Cover by Selena Gomez

I just wanted to share this Youtube video with you, it's absolutely amazing. I don't really like the original song but love this. I think it's mostly because I love Ingrid's beauty videos so much. She's received a bit of criticism for her voice being slightly edited/changed, but it had to be as she's got such a high voice (which would have just sounded odd for the song). Check it out if you haven't already :)

Herbal Essences Smooth & Soft Hair Mask Review

As a girl with pretty damaged hair, I've recently been trying a few hair masks to see whether I can get my hair back into tip top condition ready for the summer. I was asked if I'd like to try the Herbal Essences Smooth & Soft mask and I had to say yes; any hair treatment is greatly appreciated when you have hair like mine! It's not that bad, but it doesn't really shine anymore; it's dull and flat, which isn't something you want during the summer months (or ever!)

I won't bore you on how I apply this, as I'm sure you all know how to apply a hair mask. All I need to explain is the results. This gives you the most healthy, glossy looking hair for such an affordable price. It leaves it soft to the touch and gives it a bit of a 'pregnancy glow'. Just a figure of speech!

I'd really recommend this if you have your hair up a lot as it hides and helps the damage (e.g split ends and fly aways). It would be brilliant if you're always using heat products to singe your hair! We can fake healthy, glossy hair :) You do have to make sure not to use this too much near the roots or it'll make your hair a bit too healthy, making it look oily quickly. I only use mine on the lengths of my hair!

I really like this and will definitely be looking at the other intensive masks in the range. I have my eye on the Beautiful Ends mask at the moment! They're so affordable, especially for a teenager like me.

You can buy these from Boots, Superdrug and I believe all supermarkets. (£3.99/200ml@Superdrug)

I received this product to review, but as always my review is 100% honest.

MAC Order! (Semi Precious + Ever Hip Swatches)

I'd been wanting 2 particular things from MAC for a while, and when it flew across twitter that the new collections were out I let out a 'eek'! I don't really know what happened, because they arrived on Wednesday when I'd ordered on the Monday with normal delivery. Bit too fast! Then I received the dispatch email an hour after they'd actually arrived? Anyway, here's what I picked up..

Mineralize Skin Finish Natural (MSFN) in Light: I've ran out of this, and it's been a favourite for months now. Just a boring buy I guess!

Phloof! Eyeshadow: I swatched this in the Plymouth MAC Store a few weeks ago but told myself '4 eyeshadows is enough'. I ended up buying this online as I am in need of a gorgeous shimmery highlight! It's gorgeous, and shows up on my skin tone. I now have only 5 e/s slots to fill..

Here's where it gets interesting.. Ooh! I have been screaming on Twitter all day about these two purchases, but especially about the MSF.

♥ Mineralize Skin Finish in Rose Quartz (Semi Precious Collection): I can't put in to words how gorgeous this is. I really can't. It's the most gorgeous thing I've seen on this earth! I love it! I love it! I love it! I love the bit in the middle and thing the whole MSF would be a boring pink without it. This looks so much lighter on the skin than it does in the actual pan. I'd really recommend this, it's a beautiful shimmery pink. You can get away with wearing it as an highlighter and as a blush! The perfect summer pink!

♥ Ever Hip Lipstick (Fashion Flower Collection): This lipstick is a re-promote but I had to buy it after seeing Vivianna talking about it. I have heard so many good things! I thought it was more of a neutral colour upon buying, but I'm even happier to see it's a beautiful coral/peach! (a dupe for a light wash of Ever Hip is ELF Mellow Melon Lip Balm)

I've also uploaded 3 different swatches for you, as none will really show the true colours of the lipstick or the MSF!

MSFN, Phloof!, Rose Quartz, Ever Hip

MSFN, Phloof!, Rose Quartz, Ever Hip

Soft & Gentle MSF, Rose Quartz MSF

Have you bought anything from the MAC collections?
*sorry the photos looked terrible, I promise Rose Quartz looks even more gorgeous in real life!*

Sigma F80 Winner!

My Sigma F80 giveaway ended at 12 BST last night, and I've just got around to finding the winner! I used Random.Org and counted up each persons votes before entering them into the generator. It took a while to check things through, but.. the winner is..

Her tip was: My top summer beauty tip is to mix your foundation and moisturiser together, it saves the need to buy a tinted moisturiser.

I'm sorry for those who didn't win, because I know a lot of people wanted to try the brush. I will be doing a Batiste giveaway in the next few days of 3 new large XXL bottles and 2 of the large Blush bottles. That means 5 lucky followers can win! I think the giveaway will last for longer than a week though, as I know a few people will be away on holiday.

Congratulations Holly! :)

... and again (I've been spending)

♫ Oops, I did it again.. I played with your heart, got lost in the game.. Oh baby baby!

I picked up two of the Aussie hair products in Sainsbury's as the had a 2 for £6 (+ triple Nectar points) offer yesterday. I grabbed the Miracle Hair Insurance as I've heard so many great things about it, and all their haircare has wowed me so far. I then got a back up of my Mega Shampoo which is the best shampoo in the world. No kidding. It's 'rinse clean with no build up' promise makes it great for people who are trying to wash it every other day.

I was also on a quest to find the new Batiste 200ml bottles, so when I saw these I was very very relieved. These are the bread and butter of haircare, excusing the cheesy line it's pretty true. I picked up a Tropical, my favourite scent, and then two of the new XXLs. I tried one of them yesterday and love it! I'll soon have hair like Marge from The Simpsons. Who doesn't want that? ;)

Have you bought anything new lately? Do you think I should stop spending?! (please don't say yes haha)

Friday, July 1

I've been spending again..

Since I've been at home for the last week and a bit, I have resorted to internet shopping to pass the time. Nothing to worry about there, not like I'll actually order anything.. umm, well.. (♥ symbol takes you to product page.)

First, I ordered this from Amazon and can't wait to try it out. It's gonna be sooo hard to do as I've heard, but I need to lose weight so hey! It will definitely be worth it. Thinking of taking a before and after photo for my own benefit (not to broadcast on blogspot). I think I'll measure myself too and then compare. Anyone used this before?

As soon as I found out about this palette being released I had to have it! I didn't even know this had already been launched but when I saw it on the website I snapped it up straight away. You know just how much I love Sleek by now and I can't wait to use this properly.

Now, the Cosmopolitan Blend Perfection Sponge. I used this as soon as it came through the letterbox and I love it! When I ran it under water I was scared at how big it would be, but my foundation looked flawless. I used it with MAC Mineralize Satinfinish which goes white when it's damp, so I was worried it would just look rubbish! It actually worked and blended perfectly. A new favourite already I think!

Have you bought any new products recently? Have you tried the 30 Day Shred?

Style Lovin': Catherine Elizabeth (Duchess Of Cambridge)

Ever since Kate Middleton started dating William Windsor we've been oohing and awing over her gorgeous outfits. It's nice to know she still shops at the high street even though she's now a Duchess, and even her more expensive outfits have been sell outs almost automatically. The Reiss Shola dress (£175) showed in the second photo from the left had so much interest from copy-kates that it made the website crash!

There isn't much I can say about her style, it's graceful, well thought out and really feminine. It's not controversial and yet she's the most talked about woman around right now; yet nobody really thinks anything bad of her. Not from what I've seen anyway! She stole our hearts when she kissed William on the Buckingham Palace balcony, and she stole our purses the moment we found out she was wearing a mix of Bourjois and Essie nail polish. I, however, like a Duchess kept calm and didn't sway by temptation. ;)

What do you think of Catherine's style? Yay or Nay?

I didn't save the URLs I used for these images, but all are sourced from Google and are not my own. Sorry!
