Benefit Haul :)

I love my mum, and am not afraid to say it. She took me to the Benefit counter in Boots to try out some of their foundations, and I left with 5 amazing products. I only went to the Benefit counter after trying Urban Decay, Clinique, No7, L'Oreal, Max Factor and many other foundations in my quest for a non-orange foundation for my vampire complexion!

I was delighted when my mum took me over to the Benefit counter, because I knew the assistant would sit me down in that chair. The chair where you know you will sit quietly and observe as she shows you all the different products. It's a marvellous past time! :)

So, what did I get? I am sure you are intrigued..

'That Gal' Face Primer @ £20.50
This is probably the nicest smelling primer I have ever smelt. I was given a sample of this a few weeks ago when I brought the Boi-ing concealer (which is great btw!) and it lasted me a week. I was really interested in getting it because my skin felt amazing when I used it. It's a great primer because it gives constant moisture while not allowing your foundation to clog your pores. Great huh?

'Some Kind-a Gorgeous' Foundation @ £21.50
I have only used this once, but it's pretty great. 1) They actually do my shade 2) It's a creamy texture so it's silky and has a great coverage 3) It's in such cute packaging. Need I say more? It lasts all day and comes in a great little compact, so it's great for taking in your bag with you.

'Georgia' Face Powder @ £23.50
Did I really need this? Did I just waste £23.50? I did need it, and it wasn't a waste. I definitely recommend this. It gives a peachy glow so it's perfect for fair complexions like me. It makes me look glowing without looking like a clown.

'The Porefessional' Pore Minimiser @ £23.50
Wow. When did they invent this little beauty? It totally gets rid of my open pores and makes me feel so less self conscious of my blackheads (sorry, but it has to be said) which is a great reason to buy anything! You smooth it on your bad areas and it makes them disappear. Don't ask me how it works though..

4x Mini 'Posietint' @ Free!
The Benefit assistant was so sweet, she gave me 4 little samples of Posietint- two of which my mum has.  I would of preferred different samples but she didn't have anything else; though I am still happy with the Posietint. :)

What's your favourite product from Benefit?

E.L.F Haul time!

Guess what came in the post last week? My long awaited Elf goodies. I ordered them 2 days before, which is pretty good postage if you ask me. I am already writing down what I want to buy next time!
I spent £18.50 for the 7 products I purchased, which is just under half my pocket money per month. But how can I complain when on average everything I got was £2.64.. So, what did I get?

2 Mineral Lipsticks (Natural Nymph and Runway Pink)
These are both beautiful. Runway Pink has the slightest red undertone on my lips instead of a plain pink, where as Natural Nymph is a clear dupe of Gosh Darling. Both are extremely soft on the lips, but do seem to show up dry lips. I would recommend wearing these over a lip balm!

 1 Nail Polish (Desert Haze)
New obsession? I think so. This is a beautiful light nude colour, which is a pretty beige colour on my nails. It suites my pale complexion and is a great texture. I used 2 coats for a proper finish :)

2 Studio Line Single Eyeshadows (Pebble and Saddle)
I don't know what to say about these. They are beautiful colours, but you HAVE to use a primer under them or they disappear before your eyes. I will definitely get some more!

1 All Over Colour Stick (Pink Lemonade)
Hmmm. It smells like Orange Lemonade and chemicals, but is pretty nice on my cheeks. Its not oily, and is very easy to blend. I definitely love the colour though.

Visit E.L.F Cosmetics here

I am going to buy more products from Elf, and would recommend you try the Studio Line; as it's much better than the original line. What's your favourite Elf product?

UPDATE: I am planning on another blog soon giving a brief review of each item; but as I haven't tried them all out yet I will wait a while before doing this. I also have a Benefit haul coming up, so will review them too.

Sleek Inkpot- Dominatrix

I haven't brought anything new for weeks, except another Gosh brush and Sleek Inkpot (in Dominatrix) a few weeks ago. So, what to review? The Sleek Inkpot I think..

What Sleek Say: "A long lasting, waterproof gel based formula eyeliner which can be used as an eyeshadow or as an eyeliner. Using the mini brush provided, pick up a small amount of the product, remove excess then apply as required. Apply on its own or with contrasting eye shadow"
Price: £3.49-£3.99
Where To Buy: Click here to view at Superdrug, or Click here to view at Sleek.co.uk

This is my life saver, well, eyeliner saver at least. Have you had that moment where you look in the mirror at school, work or even a tesco's toilet and realise your makeup has vanished before your eyes? Yup. It happens a lot to me. I used to use the Benefit Bad Gal Eyeliner in black as my eyeliner (only on my waterline) but it would smudge or disappear within minutes! So I invested in a lovely little pot of pure happiness. Otherwise known as the Sleek Inkpot.

I use my Gosh Eyeliner Brush to apply it, and i'm ready to go. It lasts all day at school which is pretty damn amazing. It is very very black though so it's pretty bold. It's easy to take off with some eye makeup remover which is great, but I haven't yet succeeded in removing every last trace.

If I had to give it the old mark out of ten, I would give it a 9/10. It's great, but it looses a point for the brush which comes with it. How ridiculous is that! It's a tiny tiny brush which isn't even worth the bother. Just chuck it! :)

Secondary School Must Haves

I have been planning this post for weeks, which is why it is so long.
Feel free to stop halfway through for breath ;)

Firstly you need a decent school bag. It should be fashionable, yet practical. I have chosen a teal/navy shoulder bag which also has a cross body strap that can be removed if necessary- perfect for walking home! I think mine is waterproof as it's a leather type of material which is always handy in bad weather; you don't want your school work getting wet! I got my bag for £22 in New Look.

Basic Checklist:

- Practical school bag
(rucksack, shoulder bag, cross-body bag etc.)
- Comfortable Shoes
I brought some sticky heel pads for mine, as one foot is 1/2 a size smaller than the other one :)

- All necessary stationary
- Scientific Calculator for the days you have maths
- Glasses or contact lenses if needed
- Makeup bag mentioned below
- Purse containing some spare change
- Phone in case of an emergency, and maybe your door key?
- iPod if you walk home and want to pass the time quickly
- Feminine items. It's best if these are hidden in zipped pocket or a tin.
- Lunchbox and drink if needed (yes, that one is a tad obvious I know!)

Seasonal/Optional Items:
depending on weather or your timetable
you may need to carry these items

- Umbrella
- Scarf/Snood and other winter items (gloves, hat, etc.)
- I sometimes carry around a pair of decent bed socks in the winter just incase my feet get too cold in class. I get purple feet when they are cold and it bloody hurts!
- Chewing Gum or Breathe Freshener. Especially if you have a tendency to eat cheese and onion crisps, eew!

Makeup Bag (optional):

I always find it best to take a few essentials to school with me. You never know when you will need something. Take into account that friends may ask to borrow hair bands during PE, or to use your mirror during lunch..

I got this little makeup bag from Primark, and I think it was £3?
It fits everything into it perfectly and I even have a little space left for more lipgloss :)

-Bobbi Pins for if you wear your hair up.
-Small Eyeliner
-Sample of Perfume
Mini toothbrush ball
(don't worry, I think I may be the only person in the world who carries one of these)

Clear Nail Varnish for when you get rips in your tights
- Hair Bands are important for PE as everyone will
want to borrow one!
- I take some Dental sticks with me just incase, you could take floss if you don't have braces unlike me.
- Nail Emery Board
-Pressed Powder for touching up those oily parts during the day :)
- Safety Pin. My friend had an unfortunate accident where her trousers split during the day and she couldn't do anything about it. Lucky I had a safety pin!

- Hand Cream which I have repotted into a smaller
 Body Shop sample pot.
- A small kabuki brush, I don't know why I carry
this as I don't need it..
- No7 mini Mascara for a little added volume during the day
- The most important thing for me is my No7 Concealer just incase you get a unsuspected lurker (spot) on your face.
- I carry 3 lip products. Collection 2000 Love your lips, Body Shop lip and cheek stain, and Barry M Lip gloss. :)

I haven't actually pictured my Vaseline, but if you get dry lips like me, you may want to carry that instead of lip stains etc.

Aswell as these items I have a hair spray, dry shampoo, deodorant, hand sanitizer and other items I find I use daily.

I am not going to go through everything, but will instead show you an image of most of the items you should need. You may want to take a sharpener with you, or some coloured pens/pencils. :)

I hope this helps my younger followers!
I understand that not every girl wears makeup or needs to take hairspray to school with them, but this works for me. What could you not live without at school? Have I missed off a fundamental item? :)

Disclaimer; I was not asked to mention any brands or products in this post. I am not affiliated to any companies, and was not paid to produce this post. Many items mentioned may not be needed for everyone, but are what I find I need at my school. If you do not agree with the items shown, please do not leave a nasty comment.

Tag: Either/Or..

I was tagged by Lisa to do this post, and had to do it because it looked so damn cute and fun!

blusher or bronzer: I don't suite bronzer because I am so pale, so I would have to say blusher.
lip gloss or lip stick: I love love love lipstick.
eye liner or mascara: Mascara if I had to choose, but I couldn't live without both!
foundation or concealer: Nasty question! I would say foundation because it's a very light concealer isn't it?
neutral or colour eye shadow: Neutral all the way. I love browns and nudes.
pressed or loose eye: I don't mind either. I adore Barry M Dazzle Dusts :)
brushes or sponges: Definitely brushes!

opi or china glaze: I haven't tried either, though I love the names OPI comes up with.
long or short: Long :)
acrylic or natural: As I currently have acrylic nails on, I think it's obvious what my choice is. I love acrylic nails as they make my nails look so beautiful. They have to be proper ones though, not cheap stick-ons from a drugstore!
brights or darks: I would have to go against these and say lights. I am very pale so only light colours suit my hands.. :(

perfume or body splash: Perfume!
lotion or body butter: Lotion is easier for me.
body wash or soap: Body wash as I love the packaging :)lush or other bath company: Lush definitely.

jeans or sweat pants: Jeans as I only wear sweatpants around the house.
long sleeve or short : Short as I hate being too warm!
dresses or skirts: Dresses make me look taller.
stripes or plaid: Neither.. :(
flip flops or sandals: I love gladiator sandals atm.
scarves or hats: Snoods are really fashionable, ya'know the scarves that are connected at both ends :)
necklaces or bracelets: Necklaces hang perfectly on my dainty (or boney) neck.
heels or flats: Flats for the day time and heels when I am out and about.
cowboy boots or riding boots: As I used to ride I prefer riding boots. Loverly ;)
jacket or hoodie: I am really liking my bomber jacket atm, so would have to say jackets. Hoodies are way too casual!

curly or straight: I have naturally straight hair which won't hold curl..
bun or ponytail: I love ponytails but it's not fashionable at my school, so buns.
bobby pins or butterfly clips: I heart bobby pins :)
hair spray or gel: I prefer hair spray or matt clay.
long or short: Long! My hair is at the height where my necklaces hang right now.. I am trying to grow it out :)
light or dark: Dark. I was always picked on for having light hair which apparently was ginger (it really wasn't..) so hate light hair now. Mine is a medium brown I would say.
side sweep bangs or full bangs: I have a mix of both really, but I prefer side swept.
up or down: Down if I straighten it.

rain or shine: Shine but without the heat and glare.
summer or winter: Summer is great but winter is definitely my choice. I love the snow, the scarfs and the evenings cuddled up by the fireplace. It's so romantic :)
fall or spring: Fall. I like the fashion more!
chocolate or vanilla: What in? Ice cream? If so.. CHOCOLATE!

Superdrug Haul- Barry M & Gosh

Another haul, though only a tiny one. My local Superdrug had some lush sales on today while Boots didn't, so you can all guess where I decided to spend my pennies (no, I didn't 'spend a penny' as in having a wee!)

Firstly Barry M, who has a 3 for 2 sale on so I managed to save £4.50 on these 3 dazzle dusts. God was it hard trying to test out the colours with my acrylic nails! (read below)

No.86 is called Candy I think, and is a very bright pink. It isn't a baby pink and isn't a dark fuchsia pink; it's a mix of both. I have to be careful with pink as it can sometimes look like you have been punched in the eye, but this is beautiful.

No.88 is called Winter Berry and is a dark purple with fuchsia specks, making it a very shimmery christmas colour. I have found a new love!

No.44 is called Bronze. I already have Tan, but this is a much richer colour as it's pretty much gold.. very bright :)

So.. I purchased a lipstick and an eyeshadow brush, both were £6 each! Kerching :)

Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick in Darling. Hannah made me buy this, so I 110% blame her! It's probably the best lipstick I own as it suits my pale skin perfectly and is a really nice texture. Also it's much cheaper than the No7 and Clinique lipsticks I currently own. The texture is very creamy and well.. velvet. And the colour is a really light nude with pink undertones, which warms up any complexion really!

I didn't go too crazy at the Gosh section, but I am definitely going to get more of those lipsticks!

As I said, I picked up two items.. and this was the second item :)
It's the flat XL eyeshadow brush and is great for blending. I really needed a larger brush for my eye makeup and this is just perfect. It's soft, flexible and doesn't soak up too much of the eyeshadows I use which I find some very cheap brushes do. For £6 you can't go wrong, though I don't know whether any of the other brushes are any good.

Oh, and I finally have acrylic nails. I had them back in December 2009 and loved them, but my mum is so busy I could on now get an appointment with her. I obviously get them free, so I'm not priority! She's an amazing nail technician and my nails are amazing :)

Big question.. Barry M or Gosh? or is it too hard a choice to make?

P.S hannah, it wasn't all your fault I brought an amazing lipstick ;)

Why so sad Sophie?

This is a really sad post to write, but it is very necessary. I am now in a very important term of school as it's my last year. I am in my last year of GCSEs and want to succeed. I am not saying that blogging will somehow make me fail, but I cannot deal with feeling bad for not blogging and wanting to blog instead of revise. I am a person who will think 10 minutes of blogging will be fine and I will have enough time to revise, when I end up spending 30 minutes instead. When this adds up, I have missed a lot of revision time.

Which means I won't be blogging as much. Hopefully 1 a week if possible, but if not I am very sorry. GCSEs have to take priority over my hobby and passion for beauty and blogging. I will still be buying, buying, buying though! In June 2011 I will have a good few months to blog, and during Christmas 2010 hopefully but I cannot guarantee anything.

I know this may sound a bit of an over reaction but I really want to do my best, and don't want to think when I am older that if I had paid more attention to my revision I would have got much better grades. I know my mum has always regretted going off the rails during her GCSEs as she was more interested in boys, makeup and clubbing. Bad mummy! I just don't want blogging to bite me on the bum :)

I hope you all understand. I may blog more than once a week but I also may not, so it's easier to tell you now than have to explain later on.

P.S, I wanted you to see those super cute images I found on tumblr. :)
