What should you get?

Unlike many, I have already got my presents for Dad this Father's Day. If you don't already know- this sunday (20th) is the day for all the daddys out there. I have brought my dad a box of chocolates for £8.95 and a Now That's What I Call Music CD for £14.99. I love those CDs, as they always feature songs for everybody.

My dad is seriously into pop songs. If you were to meet him, he would probably be singing out of tune, with the wrong lyrics to a song like 'Turn It Up' by Pixie Lott. He loves that song..

I couldn't think of what to get him this year. He doesn't like anything too expensive (its a waste apparently) and he doesn't like anything technical. He would rather have a pair of socks and a mars bar than a camera or posh pair of shoes.

I asked him what he wanted before I left, and he said 'dunnnooo, anything', which really didn't help. Usually he gets given a new pair of trainers and a new top, but it just gets really boring. He can buy himself the same reebok trainers and a cheap top- I wanted to get him something simple that he would actually like.

Hopefully he will like my gifts, but what are you getting your dad? is your dad the posh businessman or the simple builder?

Barry M Lip Gloss

I thought I had better do a review on the awesome product while I have a few minutes of free time. I am currently busy on facebook, but I will pull myself away just for you all (:

The Barry M Lip Glosses are the ones you pick up, put in your basket, and wonder whether it's worth it or not. Will it be horrible? Is it worth the right? Is there something better I should choose? Of course not, it's Barry M!

Even though Barry M is known for their bold, bright and beautiful coloured products; I chose a quite boring brown coloured lip gloss. I chose this because I am currently having an obsession with brown. It's stylish, pretty and can be matched with almost anything.. well, nearly!

Unlike may other glosses, Barry M have a great formula. It's non-sticky, not thick and looks very natural on. The only bad point is that it doesn't stick around long, so I end up re-applying every 10 minutes. I don't know if they have names, but mine in number 2 (toffee?).

One thing I LOVE about Barry M is the packaging. Again, unlike other gloss the Barry M lip gloss has simple black packaging and a great 'sucker' when opening. Many products have a very tight mechanism, so when you open it you could get gloss splattered on you- where as this lip gloss isn't pressured, so you get a clean opening without whrecked clothes.

For £4.25, it's well worth it. I would say they are much better than many higher end brands, and a plus- my lip gloss smells like caramel, chocolate and obviously toffee! But I don't think you should eat it?

Just a heads up!

I just wanted to quickly write to you all to let you know whats going on right now.

Okay, well next week I have my science module exam (ahhh!!!) and I haven't done any revision, none at all. I am going to be spending all weekend trying to scramble through books and revise- hopefully with a cup of tea added to the equation somewhere.

I was given back my 'mock' a few weeks ago and got an A! That's massive news for me as I have been currently working at a C grade, because science isn't really my strong subject- I am best at Child Development and Textiles.

Weirdly though, I had achieve 18/20 (highest in the class!!) on my chemistry section, and done just above average on both the biology ('blodge') and physical ('phsy'). I hate chemistry though!

I am only mentioning this because as I have said - it will take up my entire weekend. I know I will end up checking my blog around 17 times, but I won't be writing any essay reviews. I know nobody likes essay sized reviews, but when I like something - I like it alot!

This feels like a totally worthless, stupid and immature post- and thats me, yuhuh.

( I typed random into google and it came up with this..)

Thanks for reading this mess, and I hope to speak to you all very soon (:

Coastal Scents Ultra Shimmer Palette Review

When I first brought my Coastal Scents Ultra Shimmer 88 Eyeshadow Palette I mentioned on a blog I would be reviewing the product, but have only just got around to it. I have been using this palette almost daily since I brought it, and it's still staying strong.

So the palette is all about colour and shimmer, with each shadow being the size of a 5 pence piece (or a dime). I have found they do crumble a bit, but are long-lasting and really highly pigmented. When used with a primer, these shimmer shadows will stay throughout the day while still looking newly applied.

Out of nearly 900 reviews, the product has scored 5 stars. If you would like to read some of these reviews, click here.

I have found that my eyes are more suited to the far right and left sides of the palette, as I find some of the colours throughout the center un-wearable on a day-to-day basis. I would not wear shimmers daily, which is why I am contemplating buying the original 'half satin, half matte' palette. I usually wear the browns, golds and greys as they can be mixed to create the perfect smokey eye.

You should definitely get this palette, especially if you don't know which colours are best on your eyes. You can play around with the palette to see which colours work best, and which you should stay clear of. Perfect for a girly make-over with your friends or a night out; as the colours are bright, bold and shimmery.

(image sourced from here)

Coastal scents also offers many other palettes, such as;
- Warm Palette
- Metal Mania Palette
- Original Palette
- Blush & Contour Palette

.. and you can even make your own palette, where you buy hot pots to fit into an empty palette (they can also be used for your MAC eyeshadows).

I hope you like this review, and if there is anything you would like to know just leave me a comment. (:

Britain's Got Talent Winners

What do you think about Spelbound, the 2010 winners of Britain's Got Talent or BGT for short?

They are described as a dance group, but really they are a gymnastics group. I found it so great to watch one of the members being thrown over the judges, and not fall. (:

Here's a Youtube video showing their final performance:

Who did you want to win?

May Favourites

It's really hard to choose this month's favourites as I have so many new products I am loving right now, so there may be quite a few..

Firstly are my lovely Collection 2000 Hot Looks nail polish. I have 8 of these right now, and as they only retail for £1.79, it won't 'break the bank'. They are really great for the price, and there are some really lovely colours to choose from. You can find these at places like Boots and Superdrug.

Secondly is my new Soap & Glory - Scrub Your Nose In It. It's a really lovely scrub used to unclog pores and cleanse your face without damaging the skin. I have only used the product twice, but I know it's going to be a winner. I would definitely recommend it for only £4.33 - but only for a 'selected time', so get your hands on it while it's cheap!

Thirdly, I would have to repeat last month's favourite - Bed Head's Superstar shampoo. I have only used half of this so far, and have had it for a bit more than 1 month. It leaves my hair easy to manouvre, silky to the touch, and less greasy than usual. I find I do get fly-away hair with this shampoo, which may be because it's Sulphate free. This is recommended to give the user very thick, volumized hair- and it does, which is why I would so highly recommend it. I don't know how much this cost, as my mum purchased it from my hair dresser- but I am sure you can find it online.

Lastly I have to say how much I love Virgin Vie's Prime Time (face primer), which is on sale for £12. It is a perfect texture to leave a radiant glow on your skin, without making your face look greasy. It also doesn't clog your pores like some thicker primers, and keeps your foundation firmly in place all day. I find some primers tend to disappear around the edges of my face and clog around my t-zone, leaving my cheeks thickly layered with foundation and my outer cheeks being foundation-free, unlike Virgin Vie's which works perfectly on my skin. Virgin Vie isn't a new brand but not many people know about it, and they are missing out on all the high quality products they have to sell. Check it out!

What are your favourite products this month you have used for a long time or newly discovered?

Floral Hair Accessories

I have picked out a few things from well-known brands, which are very summery and will make your hair sparkle this summer. Just a short blog, but I had to show you these.

I know some people find these big flowers cheap and tacky, but if you match them with the right colours and hair styles they can look gorgeous. This satin flower is from New Look and is only £4!

These floral snaps are 'Coral Hyancinthes' and would look really beautiful with some orange/peach lipgloss and eyeshadow. These pretty little clips are a great price at £5 from Dorothy Perkins. I am in love with these.

Lastly, these little enamel pansy grips are prefect for wearing to school as they are subtle, yet still fancy. You can find these at Accessorize for £8. These are quite expensive compared to the others, but aren't they worth it?

My thought - I need to get these..

Sex And The City 2

Yesterday after a hectic day of shopping I got to see SATC2 - Ahhh! I was asked for ID when I went to get the tickets, as apparently I really don't look 15 (I am quite short!). The movie was really great, except an old lady who laughed at every scene Samantha was in.

Okay, so it's all about their trip to Abu Dhabi, 'the new middle east', and for those of you who like me have never seen an episode of Sex And The City until a few nights ago, the whole thing is about 4 new york women who enjoy shopping at the most expensive places and one of them is obsessed with all things sexual.

I mean, it is quite rude- including various sex scenes of Samantha, but it isn't too dirty.. as they are in Abu Dhabi, where sexual relations are forbidden in public. Samantha -pictured below- is the oldest of them all I think, but still acts like a 20yr old. Where as Charlotte is a level-headed, maybe a bit loopy wife with 2 children who leave her wanting to sit in a pantry and cry :)

(caught wearing the same dress- but no cat fight)

Carrie, who is pretty much the main character, who lives a life of luxury with her husband and doesn't want to have children. She likes the company of children, but doesn't want any of her own. Lastly, Miranda is the work-a-holic mum who ends up quiting her job after her boss pushes her to her limits.

When in Abu Dhabi, Charlotte is obsessed with calling her husband to see if he has cheated on her with the bra-less nanny which ends up with her falling off a camel as she tries to search for signal in the Abu Dhabi deserts. Samantha is caught kissing a man in public on a beach, and then when condoms fly out of her purse her friends have to hide her. Carrie cheats on her husband by kissing an ex-lover and cannot stop thinking about how her husband will react, until she calls to tell him and he puts the phone down on her. Miranda just enjoys the luxury of having a hotel room with £22k a night for free and orders alcohol while listening to everyone elses problems.

It is a great story that just cannot be explained, you have to watch it for yourselves. I am so glad I went to see it, and I still understood it- even without knowing the background story for it all. It's easy to watch and you are gripped throughout. Loved every second of it.

Spending, Spending, Spending

Today I went into town with best friends Abby and Emily, and Emily's little brother and sister. It was a great day, but when Emily had to take her younger siblings home, me and Abby had our shopping time. This included going into Superdrug for a 'tester session', where we tried on nearly EVERY product they sold. We also spent lots of money in Newlook, as I had been wanting a new summer wardrobe for a long time. Here are a few items I brought;

So when I was checking out the Sleek Eyeshadow Palettes, my best friend pointed out these 'really colourful nail polishes', and when I looked around she had some Hot Looks nail varnishes held up in her hand. I tried not to laugh, but ended up having a quick giggle as I already had 6 at home. I walked over to her and picked up some colours I have never seen before and as they were on offer (2 for £3) I decided to buy Fruit Salad and Hoola Hoop. Fruit Salad is a lovely salmon, peachy colour and Hoola Hoop is just such a cute, pale pink. I also picked up Collection 2000's Love Your Lips in Adore 6, which is one of the darker pink/brown colours available from the range for £3.99.

New Look Items:
I got 5 items from New Look today, which totalled at a daunting £54 (ouch!). Most of these items were in the sale, except the very expensive shorts which I love alot.

£15

£20
(all images have been taken by myself, and sorry all the clothes are badly creased)

I am really happy with all the items I purchased, especially the dress and shorts. As most of the items were on sale, as I said before, I don't feel as guilty for spending so much.. after all, they all look great on.

What do you think of New Look and Superdrug? I hope you like haul blogs, as I seem to be buying all the time lately :)

Mini Boots Haul

Guess what just arrived? My lovely Boots order! *high pitch scream*

I have been waiting for the package since Sunday night, when I ordered it, and it was estimated my order would be here on Friday, but it's arrived 2 days early. I ordered 6 items, which included 3 Hot Looks nail polish and 3 items from the Soap & Glory range that's not available at my local store.

As I am home alone today (which means I am 110% bored), I decided to take it easy and stay in my PJs until around 2pm, but was suprised when a postman set the dogs barking at around 1pm. Great, I have bed hair, ugly pyjamas and my face looks like I have been squashed against a door, I thought. I ran in with the parcel and grabbed the scissors to start cutting off the huge brown tape, more excited than I was when my Lush order came a few months ago.. to find all my lovely items rolled up in brown paper and bubble wrap. Let's just say, I was pretty excited.

So firstly, I brought 3 of the Hot Looks Nail Polishes because they were on a 3 for 2 offer, and because I was brought 3 for my birthday and loved them. For £1.79 each, they are really cheap but work perfectly for a night out or just a sleepover with friends. The colours I chose were Big Hair, Hip Hop and Mint Mojo.

(sorry about the truely rubbish photo, silly camera never has liked nail varnish pots)

Big Hair is a really weird colour, but in a good way. Looking quickly I would say it's just a red, but when I look closer it looks like a real matte colour, even though it looks shimmery at first glance. Instead of a bright red, it's what I would describe as a pink/red pastel. But's it is lovely.

Hip Hop isn't the same as Big Hair's texture. It looks quite bright, bold and a tad shimmery. It's bright orange, and I think it will look brilliant on tanned skin. It's a shame I am a pastey pale.

Now, Mint Mojo is definitely my favourite colour. Obviously it's mint, but doesn't have any yellow undertone like some other brands do. It's lighter than other brands, and is really beautiful. I cannot wait to try this one.

Onto the Soap & Glory products, which I am already trying. I ordered Scrub Your Nose In It, No Clogs Allowed and Off Your Face Cleansing Wipes. These were quite expensive compared to other drugstore items, but only a little bit. I have always liked the packaging of Soap & Glory, and only lately have I started seriously thinking about the products. I was contemplating getting one of the Mother Pucker products, but in the end just got these three..

Scrub You Nose In It - This is a scrub you can use as it is, or keep it on for a little longer and use as a mask. I have already used this one today, and it smells ah-may-zing!

No Clogs Allowed - I have also tried this today, and it's great. My skin was as smooth as a babie's bottom (.. I think, I have never actually touched a babie's bum!), and I did notice my pores looking a bit smaller and less clogged after using this. It's great, because it can be used just to refresh your face, or can be left on for 3-5 minutes as a clay mask for deep cleansing. I love how it goes blue when you should take it off, and it feels slightly warm on your skin when you wet it, but not hot like Clean & Clear's Warming Scrub. I am not so keep on the smell of this, but I will gladfully use this if it works.

Off Your Face Cleansing Wipes - I usually use Nivea cleansing wipes, as they are cheap and cheerful. But I also wanted to give these wonders a try, as they had been given 5 stars on the website and are known fpr shrinking pores. These wipes Cleanse, Tone and Exfoliate at the same time, but as they are packed full of moisture they don't dry your face.

Over all I am really happy with my order, and will be sure to tell you if the Soap & Glory products work or not. Thanks for reading!

Clean & Clear Warming Scrub

If you have already seen my other blogpost about Clean & Clear, you will know I haven't been too happy with their range of products. This is because I believe they are falsely advertising their products, saying they are wonderful and so on, when actually they are absolute crap. This leads me to say..

I have found a Clean & Clear product I think may work, horrah! I discovered the little minx in my 'junk' draw when I cleaned my entire room a few days ago. It's called 'Clean & Clear Warming Scrub' and its quite a peculiar texture to put onto your face. Unlike may other scrubs, this one is like dried play-doh and cement mixed together to give a hard, scrubby texture. When they say it's warming, they basically mean it reacts with the water on your already moistened face, leaving the cream basically boiling hot. It only lasts for a few seconds at the most, but yesterday I was close to burning my finger when I squeezed the stuff out of its container. The reason for the 'warming sensation' is to open pores, so the scrub can works it's hardest at removing build-up and help prevent clogged pores.

I must say, it does seem to be doing it's job. I have only used it 3 times, but my face is so much smoother. Yes I have used it everyday since I found it, and yes I know you should exfoliate more than 3 times a week. But if it means ridding my face of disgusting blackheads, I'm all for it. My face is already feeling smooth, so it must be doing something. You see, I have dry skin, but underneath, I have very oily skin- which leads to the clogged pores. This leaves my nose very flaky and rough to the touch, but underneath I know my skin is disgustingly greasy.. lovely, right?

Hopefully this will work even more than it already has, and leave me with lasting results. I am sure you can still buy this from Tesco's, Sainsbury's and Superdrug- but I may be wrong. I have seen it for sale on Ebay and Amazon before, so take a look?

In need of a new wardrobe

Summer should already be in full swing but for boring England, summer is an odd weekend here and there of sunny afternoons. Unfortunately, I am skint at the moment after spending all my money on a Coastal Scents palette and 6 items from Boots.com (which I should recieve on Friday). This means I will have to beg, beg and beg next month for some money. I usually get £40 per month, but have had it halved after my straighteners broke and I have been paying £20 per month to re-pay mum for getting me some GHDs. They were a gift, but I offered to help out by paying £20 for 3 or 4 months to help her out.

Anyway, these are just a few of the lovely items I am lusting over right now from New Look.

(all images from newlook.com, check them out!)

I am just dying to get these items as soon as possible, but totalling over £100, I don't think I will be getting them all. Anyway, I would love to know what you have your eyes on this summer. Why not post a URL to the products you are dying to snatch up?

Thanks again for reading my blog, it really means a lot to me.
